Who is the Skills Bootcamp for?

The Innovating for Growth Skills Bootcamp is aimed at businesses of all sizes and is designed at level 3. All participants will receive a certificate in Innovating for Growth, awarded by Innovation SuperNetwork on completion.

Larger organisations will benefit from sending innovation teams or innovation leads with responsibility for ensuring the adoption of systems, processes and technologies are driving efficiency, productivity and a market edge.   

Small and Medium-sized enterprises would benefit from attending the bootcamp to ensure they’re taking an inclusive, sustainable and innovative approach to scaling their organisation, productivity and growth.

What does the skills bootcamp cover?

This bootcamp is designed to upskill the participants, supporting them to embed innovative practices within their businesses, ensuring they can grow through innovation.

The Innovation SuperNetwork’s expert team have in depth knowledge in innovation best practice and are recognised for their approach to using open-source innovation methodologies and tactics, including the Design Council’s Double Diamond framework. Moving innovators through the process, participants will come away with the necessary skills to implement a new product or service and improve internal processes.

The course will run on the following dates:

  • Monday 4th March – Friday 8th March (with Mon 4th, Wed 6th and Fri 8th in person at Quorum Park and Tues 5th & Thurs 7th online) and then;
  • Friday 15th March, Friday 21st March & Thursday 28th March – all in person at Quorum Park.

What are the expected learning outcomes for the skills bootcamp?

  • Spotting opportunities and acting on them.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset – and identifying gaps in skills.
  • Understanding of their own IP, the value of it and how to protect it.
  • Understanding of design thinking methodology.
  • How to assess validity.
  • Prototype (or a plan to develop a prototype) for an innovation.
  • Use of business model canvas and value proposition.
  • Marketing planning for new products or services.
  • Awareness of funding options and requirements.
  • Knowledge of how to develop a pitch and create a pitch-deck.
  • Commercialisation of new ideas.
  • How to map out a process and identify what doesn’t work and why.

All topics covered will be taught through hands-on application, with participants getting the opportunity to learn about innovation tools and approaches, and then apply these during the bootcamp to their own work context with support from our team of Innovation Experts. Following the bootcamp participants will be ready to apply the skills learned, and clear on the next steps to take to be more effective innovation advocates in their own organisation.

How long will the bootcamp last?

The course includes 60 hours of learning over a two-week period.

How much does the bootcamp cost?

Costs for joining the bootcamp are subsidised with employers and individuals required to pay part of the course cost (£3500), depending on eligibility.

  • Small and medium sized businesses are required to pay 10% of the overall course cost at £350 + VAT.
  • Large organisations are required to pay 30% of the overall course cost = £1050 + VAT.
  • Self employed individuals would also benefit from attending and will gain access to the bootcamp FREE of charge.

How is the course delivered?

The course will be delivered online and in-person. The in person base location will be at Quorum Park,Benton Ln, Newcastle upon Tyne NE12 8BU.
