Based in Sunderland and working in the North East of England

Full time, permanent contract (part-time working hours or job share may be possible)

£20,000 per year pro rata plus pension

Venturefest North East is established as the region’s innovation conference and is expected to attract 700 delegates this autumn. The annual conference, delivered in partnership with Innovate UK, the North East LEP and 50 partners from the private, public and third sectors, receives excellent feedback from delegates, partners and exhibitors each year and we’re keen to build on this success.

Alongside Venturefest, we have also launched a new investment conference (FinanceCamp) this year with 200 delegates and there are a number of other events in development. We are absolutely committed to maintaining our high quality standards in delivering these events whilst achieving excellent value for our funders.

Given our expanding event programme and wider requirements to promote our activities, we are recruiting for two Marketing & Event Officers. The new team members will be heavily involved in high profile, exciting business focused events in the North East of England. They will support the Event Manager and Communications Manager in working with partners, suppliers, speakers and delegates to prepare, promote, deliver and follow up on these events.

In addition, our whole team is expected to take an active role as required in other aspects of our projects, such as working with partners on the development of their own event programmes and supporting the promotion of our wider £1m European Regional Development Fund supported Innovation SuperNetwork programme.

Particular elements that would be useful for these roles are:

  • An interest in, and preferably experience of, sizeable events;
  • An understanding of different marketing routes, particularly low cost/high value routes such as PR, web, social media and utilising partner channels;
  • Design skills;
  • Strong digital skills, ideally including some understanding of web tools (e.g. WordPress);
  • Competence with standard business software.

We are looking for individuals who are highly motivated, organised and strong communicators in person, in writing and online. They will need to have an eye for detail and a commitment to excellence. Being involved in our events means taking responsibility when required, working hard as part of a committed team and bringing a positive mental attitude no matter what the circumstances.
