Challenge North Tyne Launch Event: Delivering Energy Efficient, Low Carbon Homes

A light lunch will be served from 12:30 – arrive early to start for 1pm!

Is your North of Tyne business ready to innovate to tackle some of the area’s biggest challenges? Are you dedicated to achieving net-zero through delivering energy efficient, low carbon homes into our region?

Join us to learn more about Challenge North Tyne’s brand-new Innovation Challenge, focused on reducing the carbon footprint of current and future homes in the North of Tyne area.

Funded through the North of Tyne Combined Authority, this programme will allow businesses to access a range of support, collaboration opportunities and grant funding to harness the inventive ability of our region to deliver impactful and innovative solutions to some of North of Tyne’s most pressing problems.

Prototype funding to the value of £5,000 and a dedicated accelerator programme is available to small and medium sized businesses participating in the programme and operating in Newcastle, Northumberland and North Tyneside.

The programme will bring together key regional partners to present the challenge, such as the International Centre for Connected Construction as well as local government, large corporates and community groups, to collaborate and share resources with businesses best placed to develop solutions with real impact.

Speakers include:

Elected Metro Mayor for the North of Tyne, Jamie Driscoll.

Jamie is positioning the North of Tyne as a clear national leader in green growth, based on a ‘Zero Carbon, Zero Poverty’ mission, with a just transition at its core.

Elected Mayor of the North of Tyne Combined Authority in May 2019, Jamie immediately prioritised the creation of green jobs, and the decarbonising of our economy. His target from Government is to create 10,000 jobs over a 30 year period. Already there are over 4,000 high-quality jobs in the pipeline, and more than 2,500 jobs safeguarded during the pandemic.

Refreshments and networking opportunities available throughout the event.
