Do you have a passion for delivering data driven digital marketing campaigns? Are you technically skilled with an eye for engaging web design? Do you have a passion for uncovering the latest digital marketing trends or platforms? Are you experienced in managing and growing online B2B audiences and communities?  

We’re seeking a dynamic, self-starter with a track-record in developing and delivering campaigns across digital channels. Reporting to the Head of Communications & Engagement, the ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of key digital marketing tactics including SEO, PPC and retargeted advertising, e-comms and social media. You will also have experience in managing websites.

Working closely with the Communications & Engagement Manager, you will own the digital marketing strategy and content plan to support the development of holistic communications campaigns, which engage a regional business audience with a wide variety of innovation programmes and high-profile events, including VentureFest North East.   

The Innovation SuperNetwork is a network of networks.  Made up of over 60 partners and 5000+ businesses to increase innovation, collaboration and business growth in the North East, the Innovation SuperNetwork is strategically aligned with the North East LEP and works closely with the North of Tyne Combined Authority, Innovate UK, British Business Bank and local authorities across the North East to increase connectivity and collaboration among the region’s business community. 

Our mission is to boost regional innovation, make connections to benefit businesses in the area, and create the space for fresh ideas to be explored with innovative activity. We turn innovation policy into practice and work closely with cluster groups, and academic, public and third sector organisations to provide Innovation Support, Innovation Finance and Innovation opportunities.  

We are managing a growing portfolio of publicly funded innovation programmes and the Communications & Engagement Team play a central role in ensuring the successful delivery of these projects through engaging a regional SME audience with opportunities designed to help them innovate and grow. Innovation SuperNetwork includes the Catalysing Innovation in North East Clusters project, which is receiving up to £1.28m of funding from the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2021-2023.

Person Specification  

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a digital marketing role 
  • Relevant degree, apprenticeship or equivalent industry training 
  • Excellent knowledge of digital communications tools, techniques and platforms 
  • Substantial experience using, WordPress, MailChimp, Hootsuite, (or equivalents) and social media platforms including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram & TikTok. 
  • Experience managing and developing web platforms using WordPress or other similar tools 
  • Excellent knowledge of Search Engine Optimisation practice 
  • Successful track record developing and delivering impactful digital communications strategies and campaigns 
  • Experience of using new and innovative digital methods of communicating complex issues to a wide range of audiences 
  • Experience of working with Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Outlook) 
  • Outstanding communication skills and highly developed interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively about digital’s role in a wider communications & engagement mix 
  • Ability to work unsupervised and take the initiative and ownership of own workload 
  • Ability to see the bigger picture whilst paying attention to detail for accuracy and compliance 
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills and ability to balance multiple projects and priorities 
  • Passionate about making a positive difference in the North East economy
