New programme of free business support aims to help North Tyneside businesses grow

14 May 2024

A new programme of free business support is set to help growing businesses access the advice and guidance they need to tackle any problem areas limiting business development.

Open to North Tyneside-based organisations which have been trading for at least 12 months, GROW offers one-to-one mentoring and consultancy to help businesses develop and improve their processes, and bring new services/products to market.

The programme is one of a series of projects available through the Business Factory, North Tyneside Council’s business support offering, which helps organisations, from start-ups to scaling businesses take their next steps. Graeme Miller, Head of Innovation at Innovation SuperNetwork (pictured) said:

“With experience supporting over 1200 businesses in the region we have an in-depth understanding of the many challenges local businesses encounter whilst striving to expand.

“We are here to support businesses in a range of practical ways – whether that’s as a sounding board for a new idea or in supporting with advice and contacts to enable product or service development. The areas of support available in this programme are broad and include everything from navigating property matters to advice on business marketing. I’d encourage any North Tyneside-based business to reach out no matter how big or small their individual challenge.”

Delivered by Innovation SuperNetwork on behalf of North Tyneside Council, this project is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund with the North of Tyne Combined Authority as the lead authority, GROW will work with businesses on a one-to-one basis, free of charge across one or several areas if eligible.

Using the team’s expertise in areas including Net Zero, Digital & Tech, Investor Relations, Product/Service Development and Intellectual Property, businesses will be able get to grips with exactly what they need to develop their processes and understanding in their field through tailored support.

Becoming the Artist, one of the first businesses to access support via the programme, gained marketing support to help their community network for musicians reach the right audience. Bernie Mac, founder, said:

“Innovation SuperNetwork offered my business valuable marketing support, taking the time to get to know me and my business and what areas I needed help with. Innovation SuperNetwork reviewed my offerings and made clear positive suggestions about which direction to take my marketing in, and it has certainly made business life easier!”

As well as mentoring and consultancy, the programme will also feature several small, in-depth workshops providing businesses with the opportunity to learn more about key areas.
