The North East Energy Catalyst received a fantastic response to round one of its Energy Innovation Challenge programme, a new initiative designed to support regional SMEs to bring forward solutions to global energy challenges.
The first of three challenges rounds which will be launched up to March 2021 centred on scalable solutions for ‘decentralised and decarbonised energy’. Following applications to this first round, 14 regional SMEs have joined the successful cohort, gaining access to business guidance and specialist support on a range of topics from North East Growth Hub, North East Energy Catalyst, and facilitated by Innovation SuperNetwork. Businesses on the programme may also be eligible to apply for up to £20,000 Local Growth Funding and/or a further £20,000 investment from partners Northstar Ventures to help drive business growth and bring their solutions to market.
In July, a second round focusing on ‘digital solutions for energy challenges’ will be launched; more details will be issued in due course but please contact David Lynch for further information or if you may be interested in applying when the second round launches.
