Jenny Tooth OBE, CEO at the UK Business Angels Association (UKBAA) will lead this discussion to provide insight to those looking to invest in innovative businesses without heightened risk. Jenny Tooth OBE
Jenny is CEO of the UK Business Angels Association, the trade body for angel and early-stage investing, representing over 18,000 investors around the UK. Jenny has over 25 years’ experience of facilitating SMEs’ access to investment, both in the UK and internationally. She ran her own consultancy on access to finance for SMEs, including spending nine years based in Brussels, working closely with the EC. In 2009, Jenny co-founded Angel Capital Group, incorporating London Business Angels, one of the most established and active angel networks in the UK and which was sold to Newable in April 2017.
Jenny is an angel investor and in her role at UKBAA she focuses on building the angel community around the UK and developing an effective and connected ecosystem for the angel and early stage community. She works with Government and major stakeholders and sits on a number of boards in both the public and private sector. Jenny is also an experienced speaker on angel investing and entrepreneurship both in the UK and internationally. She has an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Jenny was awarded an OBE in 2015 for services to small businesses.
Meganne Houghton-Berry is an angel investor, board director and start-up mentor and was the 2017/18 UK Business Angel Association Angel of the Year. She has over 25 years’ experience in tech and consumer marketing and has a portfolio of investments in over 30 companies across wide range of industries from intelligent textiles to waterless toilets, med-tech products to surplus farm produce and craft brewing. Meganne is a keen supporter of female founders (with over half of her portfolio companies having a female on the founding team) and has been profiled in UK media for her work in social impact investing. Meganne is an active member of several UK and US based angel networks.

Jess has a wealth of experience working with tech businesses and startups, particularly with a focus on positive social impact.
Jess come from a strong start-up background with operational, compliance and management focus, as well as managing HNWI Capital and a portfolio of over £5m in value spanning both early stage tech businesses and property.
Her current role at GC Angels sees her leading the service’s fund deployment into GM early stage tech businesses and managing a portfolio of over 22 investments to date, sitting on numerous boards. She is passionate about supporting investment into women-led businesses, the early stage investment scene, and regularly gives talks and contributes to articles on the subject.

A former financial services professional, Fraser Lusty is Investment Director and Gatekeeper to Edinburgh-based business angel syndicate, Equity Gap. With over 25 years of experience in the Scottish investment, enterprise and business growth sector, Fraser brings his strong relationship management and business development skills as well as his extensive network of professional and intermediary contacts to bear when providing pre-investment support to Equity Gap’s increasing portfolio of investee businesses. He is first class negotiator, business coach, mentor and an ambassador with Women’s Enterprise Scotland, leading businesses through change and inspiring others to deliver quality results.
MANAGING PARTNER, ANGEL COFUND
Tim is Managing Partner at the Angel CoFund, a £100M venture fund that works in partnership with angel investors to back high growth companies across all sectors. The fund brings together sector specific hands-on expertise and business building experience, with long term patient investment.
Until 2018 Tim also worked as Investment Director at the British Business Bank where he spent 10 years involved in leading investments into some of the UK’s most successful VC funds.
Tim started his career at Merrill Lynch, training as an analyst within the technology group. He has also worked for a leading credit analytics consultancy and one of the UKs largest hedge funds.
