Newcastle College is a further education college in the heart of the North East, which teaches more than 16,000 students each year from its city centre Rye Hill Campus and its specialist academies in Gateshead, Wallsend and Newcastle International Airport.

It is part of NCG, one of the largest not-for-profit education and training organisations in the UK, which is made up of six colleges and two training providers, spread across 61 locations.

The College offers a range of training programmes for those leaving school, as well as apprenticeships, part-time courses, employer training and professional qualifications.

Its higher education offering, Newcastle College University Centre offers more than 70 degrees and with access to Taught Degree Awarding Powers (TDAP), develops and awards its own Honours and Masters Degrees designed in collaboration with regional employers.

With its mix of higher academic learning, professional work-based opportunities, industry linked activity and intensive teaching environments, all within a college setting, Newcastle College University Centre provides its students with a real alternative to university.

Newcastle College University Centre holds the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Silver Award, a government initiative which recognises excellence in teaching at higher education level.

In 2018, Newcastle College received the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Further and Higher Education.
