Got a problem?

Every organisation comes across problems they can’t fix themselves from time to time.

These challenges can weigh your company down.

  • Fail to address them and you limit your potential and bottom line
  • Dedicate precious time and resources to finding the solution and costs can soar – both in terms of fees and opportunities missed for your core business while your attention was elsewhere
Let us do the legwork

Let us take the problem off your to-do list.

We have the know-how and connections to help you source solutions quickly, easily and cost-effectively from businesses on the doorstep.

Sometimes a tailor-made solution is necessary. Other times a solution already exists in a different sector and it simply needs to be adapted to suit your needs.

Use our connections

Either way, we have a unique position in the region, with routes into sector networks, membership organisations and research hubs to reach those with the knowledge and expertise to accelerate your business.

Our Innovation Managers will act as your dedicated innovation scout. And because we are a not-for-profit organisation we can make this service accessible to a whole range of companies that would not normally be able to justify this kind of expense.

How it works

Share your problem with us and in as little as two months we will find you a selection of potential solutions. Here’s how:

How Innovation Challenge worked for me

Northumbrian Water Group (NWG)

Challenge: To map the organisation’s vast sewage network to help eliminate emissions to the environment and to improve customer service.

Background: The company’s current approach is time-intensive and costly. Advances in technology, data streaming, citizen science and gamification potentially offer new ways of mapping the system.

Solutions: We generated 25 potential solution providers from drone, sub sea, digital, oil and gas sectors. Seven of these are of real interest to NWG, many are based in the North East and were previously unknown to the company.

Results: A win-win for both sides. NWG now has a pipeline of potential solutions and a series of smaller North East businesses have the opportunity to secure a contract and break into a new market.

“It’s been a great experience for NWG. We’ve entered into conversations with companies we wouldn’t usually reach and the process has been very smooth.” Eddie Wrigley, Innovation Facilitator, Northumbrian Water Group
