Northumbrian Water Group (NWG)
Challenge: To map the organisation’s vast sewage network to help eliminate emissions to the environment and to improve customer service.
Background: The company’s current approach is time-intensive and costly. Advances in technology, data streaming, citizen science and gamification potentially offer new ways of mapping the system.
Solutions: We generated 25 potential solution providers from drone, sub sea, digital, oil and gas sectors. Seven of these are of real interest to NWG, many are based in the North East and were previously unknown to the company.
Results: A win-win for both sides. NWG now has a pipeline of potential solutions and a series of smaller North East businesses have the opportunity to secure a contract and break into a new market.
