Sunderland University has been providing higher education since 1901, building a reputation for its forward-thinking academics, state-of-the-art facilities and strong links to world-leading companies including Nissan and One North East. The University is renowned internationally for the quality of its teaching and research, which has been classified as ‘internationally excellent’, with one in four of the University’s academic staff being engaged in areas where there is ‘world-leading’ research.

The University’s research focuses on four main themes which encourage multidisciplinary collaborations as well as innovation around the boundaries of specific subjects. These areas are: Creative and Cultural Practices, Culture and Regional Studies, Digital Innovation and Health Science and Well-being.
